Service Objects Signs Agreement To Deliver Web Services on a Mobile Platform.
Santa Barbara, CA - May 15, 2002 — Service Objects, a leading developer of Web services applications, today announced it has signed a one-year contract with Summus, Inc. (OTCBB: SUMU) to offer ATM locator and package tracking Web services for mobile and wireless devices.
Under terms of the agreement, Summus will incorporate Service Objects' DOTS™ GeoCash, an XML-based ATM location solution, and its DOTS™ Package Tracking, an XML based shipping solution, into Summus' new exego™ suite of product offerings. DOTS™ GeoCash allows consumers to utilize wireless handheld devices to locate nearby ATM locations by entering either their zip code, street address or a street intersection. DOTS™ Package Tracking will allow wireless subscribers to track mailed packages through traditional delivery services such as the US Post Office, FedEx, UPS and others by entering a package's tracking number into their mobile device.
The DOTS™ tools from Service Objects reach across the internet and enable users to access the underlying databases which drive today's powerful web sites. These databases are sometimes referred to as the "invisible web" because users are unable to see or retrieve the wealth of information contained in these databases using typical search engines. Service Objects DOTS™ tools allow users to navigate and access this widely dispersed information as if the resources existed in a single integrated location.
exego™ is Summus' first application which allows subscribers to use their resources when they are mobile. This includes allowing subscribers to exchange multimedia email, view and share digital images, and use instant exchange to send files and messages with their BREW™-enabled mobile phone.
"We are very excited to partner with Summus to extend the reach of our DOTS™ tools" said Geoff Grow, President of Service Objects. "By tapping into the power of Summus' exego™ application, we are now able to take our Web services on the road to benefit the mobile wireless community."
"Our agreement with Service Objects allows Summus to continue to bring innovative wireless software offerings to market through our exego™ product offerings," said Chris Kremer, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Summus. "We selected Service Objects for their superior reputation in developing and deploying web-based service applications that bring convenience to the consumer via exego™."
